Shriya Satam Wins Silver for India at the Asian Youth Games
Shriya Satam has won the silver medal for India at the 3rd Asian Youth Games held in Bahrain from 23 to 25 October 2025. The event was organised by the Olympic Council of Asia. This year
marked the first time that Mixed Martial Arts was included as a medal event, making Shriya’s
achievement even more significant. She is also the first Indian female athlete to win a medal in Mixed Martial Arts at the Asian Youth Games.
Shriya earned her place at the Games after competing at the 1st AMMA Youth Championship in Bahrain in August 2025 where she secured a continental ranking of three. This performance
qualified her to represent India at the Asian Youth Games.
She competed in the Girls Traditional MMA category in the under 50 kg group. Shriya won her first two bouts against athletes from the United Arab Emirates and Kyrgyzstan securing her
place in the finals. In the final match she faced an athlete from Kazakhstan. Although the result did not go in her favour, she proudly returned with the silver medal for India.
Her coach, Mr Nikhil Kunder, Head Coach at One Punch MMA and President of the Mixed Martial Arts Sports Federation of India travelled with the Indian contingent. He guided Shriya through the tournament with close attention to daily weight management, nutrition and corner support through every bout.
Shriya has been training at One Punch MMA for some time but began serious preparation for
competitive MMA only this year. Her progress has been remarkable. She is disciplined, attentive and shows natural athletic instinct, qualities her coaches consistently observe.
A young athlete from Mumbai Maharashtra, Shriya has already made her presence felt on an international stage. Her silver medal is a moment of pride for her team, her state and her country.
One Punch MMA is proud of her and will continue to support her journey ahead.
